A Very Original
Dinner

The Artistic Act

Is madness the only honest way to live in this world?

Inspired by the universe of Fernando Pessoa, playwright and director Sónia Aragão presents A Very Original Dinner — a theatrical journey through the fragmented mind of the poet. Voices collide, identities contradict each other, and meaning refuses to settle. Between sense and absurdity, order and chaos, Pessoa appears as a multitude.

As the evening unfolds, a quiet tension begins to grow. Satire surfaces, the absurd edges closer, and the audience is invited to consider an unsettling idea: perhaps incoherence is not a flaw, but a fundamental part of the human condition.

In a space where gastronomy and theatre meet, dinner becomes a living reflection on the multiplicity of the self. Because it may be precisely in the tension between our many versions that existence becomes fully aware of itself.

A Creative Chef

At the helm of the kitchen is João Sá, starred with a Michelin star, creating a menu that exists in the tension between technique, critical thought, and risk, in an approach that challenges expectations of gastronomy and the act of eating itself. A refined, regional, and seasonal cuisine inspired by the flavours of Portugal, deliberately shifting away from the familiar. Its purpose is to evoke memory only to destabilise it. This is a cuisine designed to converse with the artistic act, demanding attention and questioning what we know about fine dining.

The Gastronomic Experience

The Bicaense menu does not seek to explain itself. It operates as a sequence of sensory provocations, where each dish creates tension between form and every act of the play aligns flavour and expectation. The experience plays with illusion, irony, and ambiguity. Nothing is entirely what it seems. Here, dinner does not accompany the performance — it becomes an active part of the dramaturgy, inviting guests to savour, wonder and question:

Is this a show with a dinner or a dinner with a show?

It’s both and none. It’s a strange night out.
